Gossip set to rock the mountains
US indie rock trio Gossip will perform at the season opening of one of Austria’s most popular ski resorts this November.
Britishrock.cc reports today (Thurs) that the band fronted by Beth Ditto will perform in Ischgl on 27 November.
Superstars such as Tina Turner, Bon Jovi and Pink have previously performed in the Tyrolean town to kick off the winter sport season.
Around 20,000 fans are expected to turn up for the Gossip gig. The band – who have performed several times in Austria over the years – had their international breakthrough four years ago when their third studio album "Standing in the Way of Control" was released.
"Music for Men", their fourth and most recent album, hit the shelves earlier this year.
Famed clothes designer Karl Lagerfeld recently praised Ditto as a "fashion icon" to pay respect to her self-confident lifestyle despite that she weighs more than 100 kilos.
The outspoken singer caused some controversy a few years ago when she claimed to have eaten squirrels as a child, explaining that people in the US state of Arkansas where she grew up have always done so.
Other recently announced gigs are Vienna concerts by Kelis (20 October) and Kings of Leon (4 December).
