Immofinanz back in the black

Austrian real-estate firm Immofinanz AG reported today (Tues) that it was back in the black during its 2009-2010 business year (1 May to 30 April).

The firm said that preliminary figures showed it had enjoyed a profit of 208.3 million Euros after having lost 3.4 billion Euros during its previous business year. Immofinanz called its profit "a solid, positive result."

It managed to make a profit during its last business year despite experiencing a fall in turnover to 719.2 million Euros from 736.2 million Euros during its previous business year. The firm attributed the lower turnover to sales of property and consequent lower rental income.

At the same time, Immofinanz cut its overall costs to 114 million Euros from 235.5 million during its previous business year.

The firm said its restructuring was almost complete and it was enjoying a "sustainable trend forward."

It added that it would focus on optimisation of its real-estate portfolio, selective reactivation of development projects and the sale of non-core assets during the coming year.
