Austrian woman raped in Italy

Italian police are investigating after a 19-year-old woman from Austria was raped as she went on a cycling trip.

The holidaymaker decided to go for a ride on her mountain bike to enjoy the landscape around the Tuscany town of Vinci Friday evening.

The unidentified woman, who was on holiday with her boyfriend, was forced by a man into his car on a rural road who then brutally raped her between olive trees.

Vinci Mayor Dario Parrini said today: "We will do our best to catch the offender."
