Teen fireman was arsonist

A massive farm blaze was caused by a fire brigade recruit, police in Lower Austria said today (Thurs).

Bruck an der Leitha officials announced they found out that a 16-year-old member of the local fire brigade’s youth squad set the pig sty on fire. Three of the 400 animals died in the incident which occurred earlier this year, with damage exceeding 300,000 Euros.

Now the teenager admitted to police that he set the estate on fire to finally take part in an operation.

The offender faces youth crime charges and is expected to be forced to come up for the part of the damage not covered by the farmer’s insurance.
