Pensioner seriously injured in tram collision
An elderly Vienna woman is in critical condition after she was run down by a tram yesterday (Thurs).
The 89-year-old pensioner reportedly stepped on the street without watching out for oncoming traffic when a line 52 wagon hit her in Penzing district. The driver managed to soften the smash slightly by pulling the emergency brake.
The woman, currently in intensive care at a Viennese clinic, suffered serious head injuries.
A 17-year-old girl is meanwhile recovering after she suffered just bruises being hit by a line 43 tram in the city’s Alsergrund district one day earlier.
