Studio-C: breaking through boundaries
By Nina Cranen
Photographer Andreas Riedmann is opening Art Gallery Studio-C in the 7th district in Vienna on December 2nd.
Hidden in the courtyard of a tall building he created his showcase to present his own artwork and that of other artists: "After 30 years of advertising, I can’t wait to finally break trough boundaries".
Andreas Riedmann explains that photographing for a client doesn’t leave him much space to be creative: "Of course I can put something of myself in it, but I can’t let myself go completely. Owning my own art-gallery gives me the freedom to choose art at my own likings. I can introduce the public to artists I admire, leaving trends a side."
One of the main goals of Art Gallery Studio-C is discovering exciting new artists: "Vienna and especially the 7th district have lots to offer when it comes to un-known art, I want to give the artists, young or old, the possibility to expose their work".
The aim is not to make an exclusive Gallery for the rich and famous: "It needs to remain accessible. Prices of the art exposed on the 2nd of December will vary from €100 up to €500. Next to that I don’t tend to make money out of this project, it would be nice to earn the rent back".
Art Gallery Studio-C is aiming for 10 to 12 exhibitions per year. Every single one of them with official openings, announcements on the Gallery’s website, a printed flyer and invitations. "That way I’ll try to build up a clientèle".
