Advent meditation in Stephansdom
During what can often be the stressful run up to Christmas, you are invited to escape for advent meditation in Stephansdom in Vienna, Austria. Every evening from 5 December until 18 December 2011, visitors to the cathedral can sit amongst the therapeutic light shows and listen to music, providing a little peace in a time of great busyness.
Passersby may have noticed the spectrum of colours that now appear on the western façade of the cathedral when darkness falls on Vienna. These colours are now projected on the inside which when paired with music create an individual, stress-free atmosphere in the expansive building.
The evenings, which are entirely free of charge for visitors come as an early Christmas present from designer Victoria Coeln who believes, quite clearly, that "light is precious". The light show will be accompanied each evening by solo improvisations on guitar, cello, viola and organ.
Every evening from 8pm until 9pm, with the exception of Fridays and Saturdays, visitors can escape the Christmas rush in Stephansdom and listen to the following musicians:
7 December: Karl Ritter (Guitar)
8 Dec: Peter Herbert (doublebass)
11 Dec: Barbara Lüneburg (Violin/Viola) and Melissa Coleman (Cello)
12 Dec: Ernst Wally (Organ)
13 Dec: Ernst Wally (Organ)
14 Dec: Ernst Wally (Organ)
15 Dec: Stille (Pfarrgebet in der Barbarakapelle)
18 Dec: Melissa Coleman (Cello)
